We hope that you are able to listen to Passages in a place that feels like home – in comfort and safety, with freedom to move. The artists wrote and recorded these songs in gratitude for and protection of that same place. Home, as we know it, is at risk. Immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers expressing their right to safe passage are defending our access to that very right. Among the many organizations working in solidarity with them are two Texas-based non-profits named American Gateways and Casa Marianella. With over 70 years of collective experience, these organizations provide no-to-low cost legal services, food, shelter, access to health care, and other essential services. All proceeds from this record will fund their critical work. Passages is both an acknowledgement of work in progress and an invitation to do more. Our representatives need to see us. Our families need to hear from us. Our neighbors and local organizations on the front lines of this crisis are ready for us to join them.

ALL PROCEEDS SUPPORT AMERICAN GATEWAYS AND CASA MARIANELLA American Gateways was founded as the Political Asylum Project of Austin (PAPA) in 1987 to support refugees fleeing war in Central America. Their extensive staff and volunteer network champions the dignity and human rights of immigrants, refugees and survivors of persecution, torture, conflict and human trafficking through exceptional immigration legal services at no or low cost, education and advocacy. Casa Marianella was named for Marianella García Villas, a Salvadoran attorney and organizer who battled against human rights violations in El Salvador until her assassination by government troops in 1983. The organization (founded 1986) provides essential shelter, food, clothing, legal and medical support, and other resources to immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. |
